Using rubber or plastic tubing on hooks to prevent scratching/damage lures

Tom Jacomet	Just thought I'd post a message what many collectors know but as a warning to others that using rubber or plastic tubing on hooks to prevent damage to the finish of a lure in many cases, actually causes damage. This applies to both wood and plastic lures but in particular wood ones. These are pictures of a wood Bomber Water Dog lure showing the tubing 'stuck' to the body of the lure. When pulled off, you can see that it actually 'melted' a spot on the paint. Both the belly hooks were stuck to the finish due to the tubing. This was found new, in the box and was 1 of about 5 I found that way.

Scott Paulsen	I use clear plastic tubing, using tubing small enough to not let the tip of the hook to show.
